If a man hits a woman does it necessarily mean he’ll do it again?

Me and my boyfriend got into a huge fight before and I hit him. He hit me back and now my face is swollen forming a bruise. He’s apologised and said it will never happen again but he’s said that before.

Last year he hit me and I said to people it was a girl I was in a fight with because I didn’t want people to hate him. Then I blamed it on the fact that he was high as a kite but he doesn’t do that shit anymore and still hit me.

I love him. I know he doesn’t mean it. I know he’s sorry. I know he loves me. But surely I don’t deserve this shit.
